The second tunnel was dug by the North Korean army to invade South Korea and was discovered on March 24, 1975. The second tunnel is located 50 to 160 meters underground and has a total length of 3.5 km, 1.1 km to the south and 2.4 km to the north. Among them, the distance that can be toured is 500m. Inside the tunnel, there is a plaza where a large number of troops can gather, and the exits are divided into three. When the second tunnel was discovered, seven South Korean soldiers searching were sacrificed by the North Korean army. Using this tunnel, approximately 30,000 armed troops can move per hour and even tanks can pass through it. Currently, the 2nd tunnel is operated by Cheorwon-gun (鐵原郡) as a security tourism course, and many tourists visit it every year.
