Gamaksan Mountain (945m) is located on the border of Bongyang-eup, Jecheon-si, Chungcheongbuk-do, and Sillim-myeon, Wonju-si, Gangwon-do. It is usually referred to as Gamaksan Mountain, but on the National Geography Institute map, it is listed as Gamakbong Peak. This is a hiking course that has been popular with hikers regardless of the season since ancient times because you can leisurely hike with your family. Unfortunately, with the opening of the Jungang Expressway passing through Bikijae and Myeongam-ri, the Myeongam-ri-Byeoknyeonsa section, which was the highlight of Gamaksan Mountain hiking, has recently lost its value as a hiking course. However, hikers who are busy with time have the advantage of being able to freely adjust the hiking time, so it is a steady hike. Popularity is rising.

The foot of Gamaksan Mountain is a sacred place where folk religion, Catholicism, and Buddhism all exist together. Sillim-myeon to the west is a village named Sacred Forest. On the southern side of Bongyang, there is Baeron Shrine, a place where Catholics lived during Daewongun's persecution of Catholics, which was turned into a sacred place. And at the foot of Gamaksan Mountain, Baekryunsa Temple, an ancient Silla temple, is located. Baekryunsa Temple is said to have been founded by King Uisang, and it is said that it was named so because white lotuses bloomed in the pond below when it was founded. It is also a good idea to look around while hiking Mt. Gamaksan. After finishing the hike, you can stop by Maebong Mountain Lodge, Chiaksan Mountain Tourist Farm, and Seomani River in Songgye-ri, which are popular summer resorts.

The distance to the top is short and the slope is gentle, so even beginner hikers can climb it easily. The starting point of the hike is Baekryunsa Temple. It takes about 30 minutes to get from Baekryunsa Temple to the summit. There is a way down to Bikijae via Peak 885 and Yobugol, and a way down to Jaesa-dong. If you go a little further down Bikijae, you will reach the Canaan Farmers' School and exit onto the Haksan-ri National Road.
