Namsangol Hanok Village, created in 1998, is comprised of 5 Hanok buildings, a traditional crafts center, Cheonwoo-gak, a traditional garden, Seoul Namsan Gugakdang, and the New Millennium Time Capsule Square on a total of 79,934 m² (24,180 pyeong) of land on the former Capital Defense Command site on the north side of Namsan Mountain to welcome citizens and tourists. You can experience wearing hanbok, folding hanji, writing Hangul, and drinking traditional tea, and they also run a traditional etiquette school and oriental medicine experience. Traditional weddings are actually held on both Saturday and Sunday, and traditional wedding experiences are also offered. In addition, straw craft demonstrations are held in the hut across from Cheonwoogak, and you can participate in Taekwondo demonstration performances and experience events on the Cheonwoogak stage. 1) Owijang Kim Chun-yeong's House (formerly Kim Hong-gi House): This is a house built in the 1890s by Kim Chun-yeong, who served as Owijang (low-ranking military officer) in the late Joseon Dynasty. It was moved from Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu. The overall style of the house is that of a commoner's house, including the single eaves. However, a feature of the house is that a firewall was built on the back wall of the master bedroom, that is, on the street side, which further enhances the elegance of the house.
2) Dopyeonsu Lee Seung-eop's house (formerly Joheung Bank manager): When Gyeongbokgung Palace was rebuilt by Heungseon Daewongun, this house was built by Dopyeonsu Lee Seung-eop (head of the carpenters at the end of the Joseon Dynasty) and was relocated from Samgak-dong, Jung-gu. Currently, only the anchae and sarangchae remain. The anchae is shaped like a ‘jeong (丁)’ and the sarangchae is shaped like an ‘ㄴ’. A unique feature is that the roof lengths of the front and rear edges are different.
3) Haepung Buwongun Yun Taek-yeong's house (formerly Jeong Gu-yeop's house): This is the house built by Haepung Buwon-gun Yun Taek-yeong, the father-in-law of King Sunjong, when his daughter Yunbi was installed as the second wife of Donggung Palace and entered Changdeokgung Palace. The one in Jegi-dong was relocated, and the overall atmosphere of the house is more suitable for practical use rather than a living house.
4) Gwanhun-dong Min family house: This house is part of the mansion of Min Yeong-hwi (閔泳徽, 1852-1935). He built several houses on a large piece of land in the Gwanhun-dong area and lived with his family. The old site is located at 30-1 Gwanhun-dong, Jongno-gu. It was. It is said that originally, in addition to the main house and sarangchae, there were other houses such as byeoldangchae, main house, and haengnangchae on the house site. However, as the owner later changed, all of them were demolished except for the main house and the Jungmunganchae connected to it, and the crossing room, which was demolished when the remaining main house was moved and built in 1998, was built. It was revived, and the sarangchae and byeoldangchae were newly built. Behind the sarangchae, the main house and the byeoldangchae were formed, and the space was appropriately divided by walls and doors. Usually, the main house in Seoul is arranged in an 'L-shape' with the kitchen in front of the main room, but this house is rare and has a kitchen and a master bedroom. The characteristic feature is that they are placed side by side. In addition, the wide and large wooden structure made of two high beams, the size of the six-room kitchen, and the brick ventilation openings under the floor clearly show aspects of the upper class houses that were different from ordinary houses at the time.
