全罗北道高敞郡的高敞支石墓遗址是支石墓最集中的地区之一，共有447座支石墓。高敞支石墓遗址的支石墓数量比和顺、江华的支石墓还要多，而且形状、大小各异。高敞、江华和和顺的支石墓证明了该地区自青铜时代以来就有人居住。高敞支石墓遗址于2000年11月29日正式向联合国教科文组织注册。
