Hundreds of bonsai are located in a natural garden with the motif of volcanic cones and water. In 2007, to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the opening of the Bonsai Art Center, the name of the garden was officially changed to a garden with the intention of being reborn and becoming a world-class garden. The history of the Thinking Garden begins in 1963 when Director Seong Beom-yeong first set foot on Jeju Island and began cultivating the rocky, barren land. It is attracting the attention of the world media for the fact that it is a farmer's ecstasy that bloomed in a barren wasteland, and in fact, it is the most visited attraction by world celebrities. The visits of Chinese President Jiang Zemin, current President Hu Jintao, North Korean Workers' Party Secretary Kim Yong-sun, Japanese Prime Minister Nakasone, and other visits by diplomatic envoys and domestic and foreign celebrities are too numerous to list one by one. Currently, about 400 bonsai are on display here, and park facilities include a stone wall and stone tower made of Jeju volcanic stones, Jeju's largest artificial waterfall that coolly pours into the garden, and a pond where large carp play leisurely with the water flowing from another waterfall. It is well maintained.
