As the independence movement spread throughout the country, a demonstration for national independence began on March 10 by elementary school students in Osu-ri, Osu-myeon, Imsil, the hometown of loyalty. In Imsil-eup, on March 12, about 2,000 people waved the Taegeukgi and shouted for independence. On March 23, the market day in Osuri, about 2,000 people, including Ki-song Lee, participated in the independence movement, and also in Cheongung-myeon and Jisa-myeon, Many people were mobilized not only from nearby towns such as Gangjin-myeon, Sindeok-myeon, Seongsu-myeon, and Unam-myeon, but also from Namwon, Sunchang, and Jangsu. The independence movement began on March 15th and continued until April 7th, during which dozens of people were arrested and imprisoned.
