1996년 11월 영암군 삼호면 삼포리부터 영암군 별암리까지 약 4.3km에 이르는 바다를 매립하는 국책사업의 일환으로 영암에 금호방조제가 건설되면서 형성된 거대한 호수이다. 해남군 화원면.
100여종, 30만여 마리의 철새가 먹을 것이 가득한 갯벌에서 겨울을 나고 있다. 바닷물과 담수가 만나는 둑 주변에는 민물과 바다생물 모두를 잡을 수 있는 좋은 장소가 있습니다. 바다 깊은 곳에서 흔히 볼 수 있는 길고 은빛의 갈치를 바닷가 바위에 앉아 낚을 수 있는 곳은 아마도 이곳이 국내 유일일 것이다. |
