1920年，金海鳳凰洞考古遺址是韓國首次發掘的遺址。該遺址包括伽倻時期的重要貝塚，以及金官伽倻地區最大的墳墓鳳凰台古墳。這些重要的發現使得2001年2月5日被指定為第2號史蹟。
